I chose to do this experiment because I wanted to know how people would react to different artficial sweeteners as opposed to a natural sugar replacement.

The sweeteners I used were Splenda, Equal,SweetnLow, Stevia, and a Coconut Palm sugar which is a natural sugar substitute.

The amount of sweetener and Kool-Aid was the same throughout the demonstration.  I  had multiple people taste the different sweeteners and rate them based on their chemical flavor.

Coconut Palm Sugar
Coconut palm sugar is a natural sugar substitute that is made from the sap of the coconut tree, it tastes almost like brown sugar.  Coconut sugar is mainly used by diabetics because of its low glycemic index.
Surpisingly the coconut sugar was not a favorite, it turned the Kool-Aid a dark swampy color and the taste was hard to detect. Most people said that the sugar tasted real or almost real but the taste was bland the sweetness didn't stand out enough.
Splenda
Splenda is made from sucralose and is one of the most popular sweeteners in America.  Splenda is 600 times sweeter than sugar.
Eveyone who tried the Splenda Kool-Aid said it rated about a 3 on my chemical flavor scale, meaning it tasted fake but the chemical taste wasnt overwhelming.
Stevia
