Foodborne Illness

      Foodborne illness is an illness resulting in eating contaminated food.  
      As a certified food handler you must be able to recognize the symtoms of foodborne illness may include diarrhea, vomiting, fever, cramping ,and nausea.
 

What you need to know about foodborne illness.

     As a food handler it is important to know that food that has been contaminated does not always look, smell, or taste different from non-contaminted food
     A food handler must know that depending on the cause, symptoms may develope in a few minutes to several days.
      Foodborne illness can be caused by germs, chemicals, or toxins.
       Some symtoms may last several days and can result in death.

 How to prevent foodborne illness

    Washing your hands is an excellent way of preventing foodborne illness.
     Know when washing your hands twice is necessary. 
     Stay home when sick.
      Keep food cold until cook time.
      Never at room temperature for more than three hours.
